New Rye church is known as the "Friendly little church on the hill". We are a friendly congregation that is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year (1761-2011).
Throughout its 250-year history, the principles of the Christian faith have sustained this congregation through all the perils and triumphs that two-and-a-half centuries can bring! The center of that faith is that "God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself". (ll Corinthians 5:19). This faith is expressed very pointedly in John 3:16:
For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever should believe in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
We believe that Christ transforms us into "new creatures" and makes us all one in him. Here at New Rye, then, we welcome everyone that seeks the unity Christ can bring.
This is reflected in the various spiritual paths that the current members of New Rye Church have taken on their spiritual journeys to become members here. Our members include people from American Baptist, Catholic, Lutheran, Methodist and other backgrounds, unified by faith.
